The annual Woodbridge Youth U7-U12 Rugby Festival is set for Sunday, October 12, 2025, promising a vibrant and essential day of junior rugby development at Woodbridge Rugby Club. This “Development festival” welcomes enthusiastic young players across the Under 7 to Under 12 age groups, focusing on encouraging both new and experienced participants to play against similar ability opposition from visiting clubs.
A key objective is to provide a safe, fun environment where the core values of the sport are paramount. The festival serves as a significant gathering for the region’s minis section, with a substantial 10 visiting teams—representing clubs such as Ipswich YM, Colchester, Southwold, and Bury—joining Woodbridge across all age categories to participate in a packed schedule of friendly matches. This large turnout ensures diverse competition and a true festival spirit. The day is structured to run smoothly, with registration opening at 9:15 am, followed by essential pitch-side briefings at 9:45 am, and the first games kicking off promptly at 10:00 am.
The club encourages positive support for both players and the officials who volunteer their expertise. Thanks to sponsor Woodbridge School, mini rugby balls will be awarded to players who best demonstrate the club’s five key values throughout the event. With ample food, drinks, and professional on-site medical and safeguarding support, the festival is meticulously organized to ensure an enjoyable and rewarding day of grassroots rugby for everyone involved.
