The Suffolk Show, a cornerstone of the county’s agricultural and community calendar

For the third consecutive year, the Sports Vilage at the Suffolk Show once again played host to a vibrant and engaging rugby arena,  This year, however, brought an exciting new dimension as Woodbridge RFC joined forces with Ipswich YM Rugby Club to promote the sport of rugby across Suffolk over the two-day show.

The collaborative spirit between the two clubs created a dynamic and welcoming environment, drawing in attendees of all ages and abilities. The rugby arena became a hub of activity, offering a fantastic opportunity for boys and girls to participate, fostering a truly inclusive atmosphere that celebrated the diverse appeal of rugby.

A series of interactive and engaging activities were organised to provide a hands-on introduction to the sport. The tackle bag and crash mat, always a popular activity was relentlessly busy.  Precision and accuracy were put to the test at various target stations and a new addition, the tackle bag ‘coconut shy’ was a fun game helping to develop passing skills .Experienced coaches and enthusiastic volunteers from both Woodbridge and Ipswich YM were on hand throughout the event to provide guidance, encouragement, and information to those curious about taking up the sport. Their passion for rugby was infectious and we would like to thank them for giving up their time to  promote grassroots  rugby.

The successful collaboration between Woodbridge and Ipswich YM bodes well for the future of community rugby in Suffolk and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
