Woodbridge RUFC Appoints Jason Turner as Director of Rugby
Woodbridge Rugby Club is proud to announce the appointment of Jason Turner as our new Director of Rugby. Jason steps into the role with a decade of service to the club, a wealth of coaching experience, and a strong vision for the future of rugby at Woodbridge.
Jason’s journey with the club began in 2016, coaching at U12s before moving up through the age groups to his current position as Head Coach of the Colts. Under his leadership, the Colts have reached three Eastern Counties Plate finals (winning one), and last season reached the Eastern Counties Shield final, competing against some of the strongest age-grade teams in the region. Alongside his club role, Jason continues to lead the Suffolk U17–U20 pathway squads, supporting young players across the county in their representative rugby journeys.
In addition to his work at Woodbridge and Suffolk, Jason is already part of the Northampton Saints Academy coaching team, where he coaches in the Foundation Phase, helping to shape some of the brightest young rugby talent in the country. This first-hand experience within a Premiership academy pathway adds a valuable dimension to his leadership at Woodbridge.
As Director of Rugby, Jason will focus on a number of areas including :
•Creating a unified coaching framework across all teams.
•Strengthening player pathways from minis through to seniors.
•Supporting coach development and alignment across the club.
•Enhancing retention by building a strong “one club” culture.
•Continuing to grow the women’s and girls’ game at Woodbridge.
Jason said:
“It’s a huge honour to take on the Director of Rugby role at Woodbridge. This club has been such a big part of my life for the last 10 years, and I want to help ensure we build consistency, identity, and opportunity for players and coaches across every age group. Rugby is about community as much as performance, and I want Woodbridge to be a place where players not only develop their rugby but also create memories and friendships that last a lifetime.”
Club Chairman Tim Johnson added:
“Jason brings a combination of experience, passion, and vision that makes him the ideal choice for Director of Rugby. His commitment to both grassroots and representative rugby, combined with his work at Northampton Saints, means he is perfectly placed to help drive the club forward.”
We congratulate Jason on his appointment and look forward to an exciting new chapter for Woodbridge Rugby Club.
