Come and enjoy the World Cup fever at Hatchley Barn

Following on from the success of the Lionesses reaching the final of the World Cup, could we see another England Team in another World Cup Final!!

We will be hosting a number of screenings of the matches over the next few weeks following England (and home nations) to see who reaches the final. It’s set to be an exciting championship.

Saturday 9^th September from 2pm!

Ireland vs Romania kicks off the afternoon’s screenings.

Get the party started from 5pm where we have the fantastic Doctor and the Epics, whom some of you may (or may not) remember from the End of Season ball.

In the background, we’ll be screening the Australia vs Georgia game leading up to the high light of the day, England vs Argentina.

Fancy a pint/glass of Malbec and a steak baguette for just £10!!…..but once their gone….their gone!

We are looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 3rd September for our Annual Junior, Colt and Girls 12+ Registration day.

New and existing players welcome, bring a friend to try it out.  The first couple of sessions for new players is free!!!

We also have our annual ‘kit swap’ so please bring an item along with you to exchange or donate.

First aid training is provided by the club for all club first aiders.

We’re required to have at least one emergency first aider pitch side for all training and matches.

The more first aiders we have the better so first aid provision doesn’t fall on the same few individuals each match/session.

All equipment including bags, supplies, hi-vis vests are provided.

You can use this valuable skill in your workplace and community.

In addition to the course, we also provide a specialist rugby injuries session.

The Amazons team have been working hard this summer both on and off the pitch.

Not have they just been building in strength physically and in fitness-wise, they have also been growing in numbers too.  During the summer evening sessions, we are seeing more ladies and girls getting involved which is great news for the Women’s game and the club in general.

WRUFC are very proud of our Amazons, John and the team have been out there promoting Women’s and Girl’s rugby actively in the local area and at the Suffolk Show too, so they are a great asset to Suffolk Rugby in general.  We hope their efforts now reward them on the pitch as the season is nearly upon us!

We are also very excited to promote their page on our website, which is very much still in development. However, they have had some great photos taken following their recent photo shoot, so if you get a free moment, it would be well worth a quick look.  You’ll also be able to familiarise yourself with the key points of contacts too within the team.

A casual conversation with Tim Johnson led to the idea that the club might benefit from appointing an honorary chaplain.  In my retirement from full time ministry in Woodbridge I am thrilled to respond.

The world of sport has become increasingly aware that the overall wellbeing of every person engaged in sport needs to consider more than just physical wellbeing.  Mental health issues, suffered by some famous names in sport, have made us all realise that every aspect of a person’s welfare and being needs to be properly addressed through appropriate channels of care.

Recognising that we all have a spiritual dimension in our makeup means that, as far as possible we need, as a club, to make sure we can support that dimension in our care for players, their families, supporters and staff.

My own feeling is that spiritual awareness should cut through religious institutions, and even faith choices, so everyone is encouraged to be themselves through their sport.  With other care givers in the club, a chaplain must be around for everyone; must offer, without judgement, a channel of support regardless of life choice or life style, so that the universal recognition of value in pastoral care is deeply supported in our local club.

I hope I can contribute to the all-embracing care the club works to provide.
