Club closed until 2/12/20 Lockdown update

Club Closed

Update from the Chairman 5/11/20

Yesterday, Wednesday 4th November we closed our doors for Lock down 2.0.

As a Club your health and wellbeing are important to us. We want you and your families to be safe. Please follow the government guidelines. We hope this lockdown will help the UK get back to some normality as soon as it can.

The RFU has just communicated that “With effect from tomorrow, we return to Stage A on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap. This means that no competitive or formal rugby activities can be undertaken until at least Wednesday 2 December. While group training sessions are banned, a maximum of two players can participate in socially distanced (two metres plus), individual training sessions outside without sharing equipment”.

When we receive further updates from the RFU, along with government guidelines, we will be ready to adapt and implement whatever is needed to ensure rugby returns to Woodbridge Rugby Club as soon as practically possible. Until this point the Club grounds and clubhouse will be shut.

As a Club we have already demonstrated that we can adapt through implementing safe ways for the return of rugby and as such come together as ‘One Club’ stronger.

What I can promise, is that your committee and your Club will be here for our members when we are able to return.

Stay at home, stay safe and I look forward to welcoming you back when it safe to do so.

What a fantastic day for a safe Return to Rugby. Mixed teams competed in the late summer sun in a 7’s tournament watched by a rugby-starved crowd in a safe, covid-aware environment.

Many thanks to the organisers for their efforts, referees, players, bar staff, Chef Noir and supporters for making this a great day
